Pink Polka Dot Wednesday

Hey guys! Please excuse the tardiness of my Week 10 mani challenge. Polka Dots! Let's give a warm welcome back to Pink Wednesday. I can't even remember the last pink mani I showed you guys. Shame! Anyway, without further ado here's the mani.

I started with two coats of Milani Bare in Mind. It came out in that Bare It All collection in 2010.

The color is very sheer and the only reason I was able to get away with two coats is because I used Nail Life Ridge Filler over my usual base coat--Pro-FX Epoxy Bond--in case you were wondering.

 I love this color and it has a nice pink shimmer to it, that my camera didn't pick up that well.

For the polka dots I used Pinky Brown from Model's Own Beetlejuice Collection. I hear they're coming out with three more Beetlejuice shades for spring/summer 2012. The promo shots look amazing! I'm certainly intrigued.

Anyway, back to Pinky Brown. It's a very glittery duochrome shade and shifts between a magenta pink and a bronzy brown. I like the contrast.

I'm pleased with this mani! Much better than last week's challenge for sure.

Next week's challenge is a St. Patrick's Day mani. I'm excited about digging through my green stash to see what I can come up with! So friends I'll leave you with a wish for a lovely Pink Wednesday! Are you guys rocking your pink today?

Pink Wednesday: Revlon Electric Pink

Happy Pink Wednesday! You ever pick up a polish from the drug store because it's on sale, leave it laying around for say three months, then pull it out, apply it and have it knock your socks off? All of that happened to me with Revlon's Electric Pink. True story. It was one of those CVS deals over the summer when they had Revlon nail polishes on sale for $4.99 with $4.00 in extrabucks. I may have even had a $1 off coupon. So yea...it totally sucked me in. Then I completely forgot about it. (I'm easily distracted by new pretties!)

I went rifling through my stash searching for pink and there she was. I seriously wasn't expecting much out of this polish, but do you see this! And you know it's saying a lot when I show you guys a polish on its own. I'm always trying to figure out how to jazz something up with glitter or stamping or whatever, but this is just fine on its own--though I can't say I won't do either of those things at another time.

But back to polish. The people over at Revlon were not playing when they named this beauty Electric Pink. It is so bright it damn near glows! And look at the right corner of the bottle...yep that's "secret shimmer" So pretty! I did three coats here. I need to do a pedi with this ASAP!

I don't think this shade is included in the 75% off beauty clearance at CVS, but you might want to check just in case. So are you guys rocking your pink today? Even if you're not I still wanna know what you're wearing!

Pink Wednesday: L'Oreal Raven's Dream and Hits No Olimpo Hefesto

Happy Pink Wednesday! I went simple and subtle today.

I started with two coats of L'Oreal Raven's Dream--a milky pink creme--from their Project Runway collection. This polish is quite sheer so I used two coats of my ridge filling base coat by Nail Life as the base.

And no your eyes aren't deceiving you, I did pick up this pretty for $2.50. Sears had the Project Runway line and the Color of Hope collection on clearance.WINNING! If you follow me on Twitter then you know that I'm incapable of resisting clearance nail polish. You don't even want to know how many I actually picked up off that CVS Beauty Clearance list I posted yesterday.

Anyhow, while I did really like the softness of this color I had been itching to use my Hits Hefesto from the No Olimpo collection that I ordered on Llarowe. I slapped one coat of that baby on top and voila!

I'm in love--at least until my next manicure. LOL.

31 Days of Manis: Day 30, Pink Wednesday Lasers

I attempted to create a "laser mani" using this tutorial by Nailside. I didn't really take my time with this, but for a rush job I say it's not too bad.

It's Pink Wednesday so I used two coats of OPI DS Signature as my base color hoping that the holo finish would give it a true laser feel. I can't wait to see this out in the sun. Once I put my tape strips down I did one coat of OPI Pink Flamenco and voila. I'll have to do this again when I can take my time and cut my tape strips more evenly.

I can't believe there's only one day left of my 31 day challenge. For the grand finale I get to recreate my favorite challenge mani. I have to look over my pics and see what I want to do. Stay tuned!

Pink Wednesday: Pretty in the City

It's that time again! Yep. Pink Wednesday! 

 Feast your eyes on this glittery goodness.

Lately I've been obsessed with layering glitters under sheer or jelly polishes a.k.a. "the glitter sandwich mani." Not only does it help smooth out any rough glitters that you may use, but the layering polish gives you this translucence feel. I recommend you try it if you haven't already!

Here's the lineup:

L-R: unnamed City Color, L.A. Girl Disco Ball, unnamed Sally Girl

I started with two coats of Disco Ball. It's not such a stark white, but it does give you full coverage in two coats. This is ideal for me because I don't really like the look of visible nail line. Next I added two coats of the Sally Girl. It's a multi-size pink hex glitter that I bought at Sally Beauty Supply ages ago. Next I added two coats of the City Color. This is where the real magic happened. I picked this up on a whim at Rite Aid and I'm glad I did, because it added so much pizazz to this mani. 

 That shimmer flash is subtle but to die for.

 

I feel like I say this all the time but I loooove the way this turned out. My boyfriend said it looked like an Easter egg. I'm going to have to revisit this then, maybe with multicolored pastel glitters...hmmm...

Pink Wednesday: Essie French Affair and Orly Rage

I signed up to be a part of the Pink Wednesday family--so here's my inaugural post.

In keeping with "Classics Week" on MakeupAlley's nail board I chose Essie's French Affair, the namesake of their Spring 2011 collection. It's a soft bubble gum or cotton candy pink creme bordering on Pepto-Bismol territory.

I've heard people complain about the formula on this, but I did two coats over Nail Life Ridge Filler and had no problems. I decided to stamp over it, so I grabbed Orly Rage, a rose metallic, and that Mash M64 image plate I had laying around from yesterday's manicure.

I started with an accent nail on my ring finger in case things didn't go well, but I liked how it turned out so I decided to go for the gusto.

 

I'm quite smitten with the tone-on-tone stamping.

I couldn't be happier with the way this turned out!
